Vinyasa flow: how to build a fluid sequence

Flow is not only movement: it is rhythm

Vinyasa flow connects breath and movement in a continuous sequence. Building an effective sequence requires balance between intensity, recovery and listening to the body.

The structure of a basic sequence

  • Warm-up: sun salutations to activate the body.
  • Core practice: dynamic sequences with twists and openings.
  • Peak: a more demanding pose prepared with care.
  • Closing: counterposes and final relaxation.

Advice for beginners

Do not chase a perfect pose: look for continuity in your breath. It should guide each transition, rather than the strength in your arms or legs.
